Large would probably be more suitable for longer / thicker hair and / or buns while small would be more suitable for thinner / shorter hair and / or wearing half-up or in pony tails
The 2-pack comes with 1 large and 1 small - 1 stick is included for both
For customization: I was only allowed to put so many options so basically choose from all of the options that I have available and then at check out add the rest into the "order special instructions"
